As in his two previous series—Horizon and Moon—Murray’s reverence for the spirit of the natural world continues with an exploration of the intertidal waters and the great salt marsh lands of Cape Ann and beyond.

In the artist’s words … Extending north from Cape Ann to southern New Hampshire lies the Great Salt Marsh, a vast expanse of tidal rivers, marsh and beach, providing a critical habitat for marine wildlife and a muse for artists striving to capture its breathtaking beauty.  I count myself among the generations of artists for whom these wetlands have been a wellspring for interpretation in paint and other media. My own drawings and paintings—on view in this show—attempt to convey what Nature has gifted us—a majestic landscape of shifting tides, ever-changing light, and broad vistas.  — Adin Murray, summer 2023

Additionally, his new show is intended to give the viewer a glimpse into the process Murray employs to create his work. Consisting of preparatory drawings, oil studies, and three final large format paintings, the exhibition affirms the fundamental stages in the development of a final piece.
